My Summer Days

Since I ate my first piece of Halloween candy today at work I guess Summer is pretty much over.  I don't know where these Summer months have gone, it seems like I was just moving out of my dorm room at LVC!  Crazy how time flies sometimes.  Anyway, I wanted to post about my experiences this past Summer and let you all in on what I did.

TEXAS!!!!
During the last week of July I took a trip to Texas by myself to visit with my aunt and cousins.  My parents surprised me with this trip in June and I was so excited to go!  I hadn't seen my cousins in 6 years and our reunion was way overdue.  We took trips to the Houston aquarium, an Astros game (7 rows up from the dugout!), and Schlitterbahn (#1 waterpark in the country).  I had my first Chick-Fil-A sandwich, Schlotzsky's deli sandwich (PA needs Schlotzsky's), and some amazing Oreo truffles!  And most importantly we had 6 years worth of laughs :)  I cannot begin to tell you how much I missed my Texas family!!  Love y'all so very much!!  I promise it won't take me 6 years to come back again :)  Here's some pics from my trip....

Erica, Lindsay, and I taking one last pic together :(  Miss you love you guys!!

Movies
It seems like I have had my fair share of trips to the movie theater this Summer so I thought I should share my 2 favorite movies of the Summer.  My first favorite is Inception.  If you haven't seen this movie...you must!  I am not kidding, it was the best movie I have seen in a very long time.  If you don't want to see it just know one thing.  There is a fight scene with no gravity!  Yep, pretty incredible special effects.  And pay attention if you see it!  I thought I had it all figured out but the ending blew me away!  When the lights came up the entire theater went "What?!"  It's that good of an ending!

My second favorite is completely opposite of my first.  Charlie St. Cloud was everything I thought it would be and more.  I read the book on my trip home from Texas and I couldn't put it down.  I loved the way the story made you think of your own life and what you would do if you were put in a situation like the main character.  After finishing the book I had to see the movie although I was a bit weary of doing so.  The book is always better in every situation!  Even though the book was better I still loved the movie.  Very sad but hopeful at the same time.  And my favorite part is that the movie and book teach us all that at some point we have to move on from a tragedy.  We have to let go even though it may be the toughest thing to do.  So go see this movie too!

So this Summer was great in many ways.  I saw a lot of my high school buddies, some of my college girls, spent lots of time with family, and worked a lot in between everything else.  I am sad Summer is winding down but excited to be getting ready for Italy.  This upcoming trip has been years in the making and it is only 10 days away!  Scary but so exciting at the same time!  Thank you all for following my blog and I will update soon on how packing for 4 months is going.

I want to start something with this post.  At the end of every post I want to leave you with a quote that I love.  So here's the first of many....

This quote is from Charlie St. Cloud the book.  I was oh so happy when I found that they kept this scene in the movie too!  I love it even though I'm not quite sure what it means but as the main character Charlie says the quote is about taking chances!

"Trust your heart if the seas catch fire, live by love though the stars walk backward."
    -E.E. Cummings

And here is a little video clip from the movie with my favorite quote of the post..enjoy guys!

What's In a Name?

My friends introduced me to the musical "Spring Awakening" some months ago, and as everyone does (admit it!) we get on YouTube and search for clips.  So that's exactly what I did and the music became ingrained in my mind right away.  Granted, I have never seen this musical in person but I am in love nonetheless!  It is such a wonderful story about growing up and the challenges teenagers face while doing so.  And while searching the vast clips I stumbled upon this particular clip of a main character, Moritz who exclaims his joy about a situation and shouts...

"Truly, truly, truly heaven must feel like this!"

I felt this quote perfectly described what I am about to go through by studying abroad.  So now you all know the reasoning for my blog's name and hopefully you will fall in love with this quote as I did when I first came upon it.

Only 20 days until I leave for Italy!

Welcome to my blog!!

Dear friends and family:

I am so excited to finally start this blog!  Ever since I found out I would be studying abroad for 3 1/2 months, I knew I needed a place to document every little thing about my upcoming journey.  So this blog will serve as my outlet while I am in Italy and allow you to follow me wherever I go!
